dumb and dumber

You're soon going to learn that my favorite movies are either the ones that touched me (The Blindside/Sweet November/etc) or the ones that made me laugh so hard I almost wet my pants.
This happens to be one of them.

Why is it still so funny to quote these lines?
Movies like this aren't being made anymore.
Why can't we bring back the 12 year old boy humor?
I, for one, would love it.

some of my favorite lines:

-What's the matter Har'? Some little filly break your heart?
-No it was a girl.

-Yeah, I called her up. She gave me a bunch of crap about me not listening to her, or something. I don't know, I wasn't really paying attention.
-What do you think the chances are of a guy like you and a girl like me ending up together?

-Why you going to the airport? Flying somewhere?
-How'd you guess?
-Well I saw your luggage. Then when I noticed the airline ticket I put two and two together.

-Fraida Feltcher? From Cranston?
-Yeah, you know her?
-YEAH!! Yeah.. I mean.. I remember you.. talkin about her.
-According to the map we've only gone four inches.

-You'd think the Rockies would be a little rockier than this...
-Yeah, that John Denver's full of **** man!!
-Life's a fragile thing Har'. One minute you're chewin on a burger, the next minute you're dead meat.

-There's really nothing to worry about Mary.  Statistically, they say you're more likely to get killed on the way to the airport. You know, like in a head-on crash, or flyin off a cliff.... gettin trapped under a gas truck, that's the worst! I have this cousin, well, I had this cousin..
-Uh, Lloyd, could you keep your eyes on the road please?
-Oh! Sure, good thinkin. Can't be too careful. Lot of bad drivers out there!

-Yesterday was one of the greatest days of my life. Mary and I went skiing, we made a snowman, she touched my leg...
-OKAY! KILL HIM!!
-Husband?! Wait a minute... what was all that one in a million talk?

-You've had this extra pair of gloves this whole time?!!
-Yeah, we're in the rockies!
-Just when I think you couldn't possibly get any dumber. You go and do something like this... and totally redeem yourself!

-So you got fired again, huh?
-Yeah... they always freak out when you leave the scene of an accident, you know?
-Yeah. Well, I lost my job too.
-Maaaan, you are one pathetic loser!! No offense...
-No, none taken.

-You sold my dead bird to a blind kid?! Lloyd... Petey didn't even have a head!!
-Harry, I took care of it!

-Hey, I guess they're right. Senior citizens, although slow and dangerous behind the wheel, can still serve a purpose!  I'll be right back.  Don't you go dyin on me!

-275 thou. That's a car. Might want to hang on to that one!

-How was your day?
-Not bad... fell of the jetway again!
-You'll have to excuse my friend... he's a little slow! The town is back that way!!
Two lucky guys are gonna be driving around with those girls for the next couple of months!

-It's ok! I'm a limo driver!

-Move it or lose it, sister!

-NO WAY!!! That's great!! WE LANDED ON THE MOON!!

....I could keep going, but I think it would be the entire movie.

*by the way, i printed the entire script of the movie when i was in jr. high (don't try this at home kids. I don't know how my dad didn't kill me.. so much wasted paper and ink. It was like 500+ pages). It's totally not worth it. The lines aren't even close. You know Jim Carrey.. it must have all been improv. LOVE him!

instagram

I guess I'm not THAT crazy into media because I can't think of anything to post about.
I got on Pinterest for the first time in 2 months because I was procrastinating writing a paper but it lasted 10 minutes.
I'll turn on the TV for a little bit when I sit down to eat lunch at my place but don't follow any shows.
I get on Facebook when I get a notification.
I rarely listen to music... only when I'm driving to work.
I follow my sisters on Twitter as I'm walking to campus.
Instagram too...
ahhh instagram.

I LOVE Instagram!
Probably because I love pictures.

Here are some of my favorites right now:

hey baby, let's go to vegas

the friday before the last 3 day weekend (MLK day) I was sitting in my cognitive development class at 2:00 when Jeff and I impulsively decided we were going to go with my family to Vegas to help my sister Natalie move back. Or... more like a trip to eat food and drive back with her. I left halfway through my class, ran home and packed my bag. Within 30 minutes my parents picked us up and we were on our way.

I love spontaneous trips like this because I'm not very spontaneous and when does my schedule allow me to do things like this?! Usually I work a weekend night but I switched a girl for Tuesday night (awesome for me) and somehow I wasn't scheduled Saturday, Sunday, or Monday.
The trip was so worth it. All we did was eat! I probably gained 5 lbs!

media: the internet

i love the internet.
i love the new things that are happening on it.
people can share their talents on the internet and i get to be inspired by them.

one thing i lack is creativity (it may be because my mom doesn't draw and hates to sew...so do you think i learned? but really, i don't blame her. I'm definitely her kid).

it all began with One Charming Party.  Do you follow them? Nicole has shot most of their parties.  I fell in love with their ideas for kids' parties and decided... yeah, i can be that super mom. As long as they tell me EVERYTHING to do, I can put it together!  Right?

(you might have seen this image because it's all over Pinterest.
This is one of OCP's ideas and Nicole shot)

Now there's Pinterest and so much more. I'm crazy over my family friend's (and now my cousin!) blog. Megan (Kimball) Lewis posts about her fantastic ideas that she somehow comes up with for her girls' parties (search for her Kung Fu Panda party.. my favorite. The dessert sushi is amazing!) and cute creative DIY stuff she does around the house. I am in awe at how people come up with these things!

Anyway, Real Simple has 5 great Hollywood party ideas that Nicole shot (find them here).  Looking at all these images gets me excited for when I have time to plan a fun party for my kids (maybe I should get some of those first).
(Real Simple's photo by Nicole)

So I guess it's time for me to get

creative

(you have no idea how hard that is for me. hey, i can try right?)

the blind side

I remember walking out of the movie theater and thinking
"I never knew what my favorite movie was until now..."

Last week, I watched my favorite movie, The Blindside, because it was an assignment for my highest level division course in my major: SFL 490 - Advanced Issues in Human Development (love this class) with one of my favorite professors, Larry J. Nelson.

Right now we're discussing the various positive and negative influences each person has from birth on that affect their agency and choices...and therefore affect their life.

Some are born with a lot of things going for them and some just aren't.

While watching this movie, my heart goes from feeling so low and sad for Michael Oher (and other kids born in similar situations) to so unbelievably happy it wants to jump out of my chest.

It is truly amazing to watch the transformation of an individuals' life when they are finally given those positive influences that change their life.  I think of what Michael's life would have been like had there not been all of those positive interventions.. my heart breaks for those kids.

I admire Leigh Anne immensely for what she did for Michael.
I want to be her.

(ah! Sandra Bullock is my favorite actress:)

She reminds me of my mom. Always serving and always caring.  A strong woman who does what is right.  Emotionally, she's a rock.  But that doesn't mean she isn't a softie inside.  She saves face and breaks down alone.  She's strong willed and (usually) gets her way.  But her way is always the right way (I still believe she's never made a mistake).

This movie is an amazing one.  One that I will continue to watch for years and years.  The funny thing is I can't say that about that many movies.  It's only every once in a while that one of these tear jerkers and change your life kind of shows come out.  This one really resonated with me.  It's amazing how much a movie can affect you. I just wish they were all like The Blindside (it can only influence you for the better :)

What is your favorite movie and why?

Nicole's studio 5 segments

In case you missed Nicole on Studio 5, you can watch her segments here and here

The irony about her going live and in front of a camera is that it's so opposite of what she IS.
She hates being in front of a camera (the reason she's behind it), yet she is SO natural in front of the camera, don't you think?! I'm amazed at how comfortable she is.

proud sister.
sorry. you'll hear things like this from me a lot.
